Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera, a Reproduction by Evelyn Stanbury - 1993. Synthetic wig, Karl's Glass Eyes, Porcelain head, shoulder plate, "gloves" and lower legs. Costumed by Evelyn Stanbury.

The summer I made The Phantom, I had tickets to the show in the fall.  I listened to the music every day as I worked on the doll.   It took me over 6 weeks just to find the right fabrics for his costume.   Then it took almost 3 weeks of steady work to figure out the intricacies of making clothing for an 1800's gentleman.  I made everything on the doll including his staff with the skull head and flashing rhinestone eyes.  When I went to the performance in the fall, I knew every note and word of the Opera.

The facial sculpting is done in the greenware, to the head from the "Sir Lancelot" mold.
